Fluxes for electro-slag smelt of steel and alloys (ESS/ ЭШП)
Fluxes applied at electro-slag processes (electro-slag smelt, casting, metal mould casting and other processes) and also for smelting steel and alloys in electric furnaces.
Flux grades for ESS are classified on content of fluorine in them: AH-low fluorine or non-fluorine, АНФ-fluorine.
Fluxes Grades for ESS are produced at JSC “Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant”

Welding Fluxes
A friable substance just as flux is used in automatic and semi-automatic arc and electro-slag welding process. The arc burns and electro-slag welding process is executed under the flux layer.
Fluxes applied at electrical fusion process provide the reliable protection of a welding area against atmospheric gases, building the steady arc burning conditions up and providing weld seam formation of high-quality. Weld seams turn out to be dense and resistant to cracking crystallized. Slag crust is easily removed after the cooling of welding seams. Fluxes provide the least of dusting and gassing being unhealthy for a welder.
Fluxes are classified by application, chemical analysis, structure, weld seam’s alloying level, production technology, dependence of slag ductility on a temperature.
These fluxes are classified on a number of features where chemical analysis is the main one. With reference to a chemical analysis there are silicate fluxes, fluoride fluxes with a calcium fluoride foundation and ceramic fluxes consisting of slag-forming elements and ferroalloys.
